I woke up this morning to the birds chirping and the sun shining. Remember how I told you the rain in New Zealand makes me appreciate the sunny days more? Well, today was one such case. I leaped out of bed and headed to the forest jungle?!
Sadly, I haven’t been able to run once since I’ve been in New Zealand. I take that back, I have had random sprints through the sun and while playing soccer but nothing like I’m used to back home. (By the way soccer is my new favorite game…That was quick right?!)
Today was the day. The morning was quiet and the neon green carpet of the forest was calling my name.
Everything was perfectly still. Little droplets of rain frosted the trees and aside from a helicopter-esque sound from a group of birds I disturbed, it felt as if I was the only person on the planet.
After zig zagging through different trails I finally made it to the road.
This is what was waiting for me…
The only thing I could think was this can’t be real…
I could’ve spent all day looking out over the lake. The water was so calm it was like glass and I could see for miles down the beach.
I wish I could bottle up everything about this beach and keep it with me for instant serenity. The flowers, the gentle lapping of the water, the crisp, cool air.
This will definitely be my daily running trail from here on out.
Except next time hopefully I won’t get lost on the way back…. I ran smack into a cluster of beehives. Only in New Zealand, right?!
