I’ve always been a fan of things that don’t quite fit together. Grilled cheese with strawberry jam, listening to books on tape while running sprints, wearing flip flops when it’s snowing… You get the idea.
After today I can add one more combination to the list.
Pretty perfect afternoon.
I have to admit one thing that has me in awe about New Zealand is the black swans. Not Natalie Portman-esque swans…but truly beautiful, regal birds.
On another note, I keep trying to run in New Zealand and I repeatedly fail. As soon as I get into a groove, I immediately have to stop and do a 360 to take in the sights, sounds, and smells around me.
I almost feel like if I move too fast I might miss something.
All my life I have moved fast. I chase the clock to get to work and then race it to get home. I hurry to the gym to beat the rush and constantly push myself to pick up the pace on my daily runs.
I get annoyed whenever I go to the post office and roll my eyes when people walk slowly on busy city sidewalks.
I’m starting to think faster is not always better.
There’s a lot to be said for slowing down and noticing all the little bits of beautiful life around you.
